Win+H not working: check voice typing

Updated

In short

If Win+H is not working, check these four things. Without internet, you can dictate with Zack Typing and a downloaded offline model.

Check voice typing

  1. Click into a text field so the cursor blinks, then press Win+H.
  2. Check your internet connection: Win+H uses Microsoft’s online speech recognition.
  3. Under Settings → System → Sound, check the input device and its level.
  4. Under Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone, allow microphone access.

Dictate offline

Download an offline model in Zack Typing. Then start dictation with Ctrl+Space even without internet.

Does Zack Typing replace Win+H?

No. Zack Typing uses its own shortcut. You can keep using both.
