Which recordings work well?
- Voice messages and voice memos
- Meeting notes and interviews
- Recorded ideas you want to write up later
One speaker close to the microphone gives the best text. Background music, crosstalk and distant voices lead to more misheard words. To summarize a long recording or pull out tasks, see voice memo to notes.
How long can an audio file be?
A file can be up to 40 minutes long and 64 MB in size. In the free plan, the limit is two minutes per file.
What happens to your audio file?
For cloud recognition, the audio goes to Zack’s recognition service, or straight to your provider if you use your own API key. The transcript is saved in your history on your PC, where you can play the recording back and save it as an audio file while it is kept. More in what happens to your recordings.
Related questions
Can I turn a voice message into text?
Yes, if you have it as an audio file on your PC, for example as MP3, M4A or OGG. Drag it into the Zack Typing window.
What does converting cost?
Recognition uses credits per minute of audio. With your own API key, your provider bills you instead.
Can I keep working on the text afterwards?
Yes. Polish it with a chip such as “Shorten”, or hand it to Zack KI to summarize it or ask questions about it.
