In short
Drag the recording into Zack Typing to turn it into text, then click the Zack KI chip below the text. Zack KI opens a new chat with the transcript attached, and you ask for a summary, a task list or anything else. Both apps share one account and one credit balance.
- Input
- Audio file on your PC, for example MP3, M4A, WAV or OGG
- Needed
- Zack Typing and Zack KI on the same PC
Step by step
- Copy the memo to your PC, for example “Team meeting 2 Oct.m4a” from your phone.
- Drag the file into the Zack Typing window or click “Add audio file”.
- For recordings of five minutes or more, Zack Typing first asks “Transcribe this file?” and shows the estimated credits. Click “Transcribe”.
- Fix misheard names and numbers in the transcript by typing. Then click the Zack KI chip below the text.
- In the new Zack KI chat, ask for what you need, for example “Summarize this as five bullet points with owners and deadlines.”
Why transcribe first and summarize second?
Zack Typing turns speech into text, and Zack KI works with text. Splitting the job lets you check the transcript before an AI condenses it. A misheard name is easy to fix in the transcript and hard to spot in a summary.
The Zack KI chip hands over the text directly. Your clipboard stays untouched, and the transcript also stays in your Zack Typing history. File types and length limits are explained in converting audio to text.
What can you ask about a transcript?
- “Summarize this in five bullet points.”
- “List every task with the person responsible.”
- “Write a short follow-up email to the team.”
- “What did we decide about the budget?”
Zack KI answers from the transcript. If the recording was unclear, the answer can be wrong too. Compare dates and amounts with the recording, which you can play back in Zack Typing.
Where are the limits?
- Zack KI must be installed on the same PC. Otherwise Zack Typing shows “Zack KI could not be opened.”

What does it cost?
The transcription and each Zack KI answer use credits from the same balance, as long as you sign in to both apps with the same account.
Do I need Zack KI for a shorter version?
No. The “Shorten” chip in Zack Typing condenses the transcript without leaving the app. For task lists, questions or a summary in a specific format, Zack KI is the better tool.
Can I record the memo directly in Zack Typing?
Yes. Click the microphone button in the Zack Typing window, speak and click again. The dictation lands in your history, and the Zack KI chip works the same way.
Does Zack KI receive the audio?
No. Only the text goes to Zack KI. The recording stays in Zack Typing on your PC.
